Q: I already have too many cards in my wallet. Can I opt to use paper Bonus Bucks instead of the new electronic card?
A: No. Pioneer will gladly accept paper Bonus Bucks from customers when redeeming toward Pioneer purchases; however, paper Bonus Bucks will only be issued for a limited period of time after the card program introduction.
If a customer doesn’t want to carry the membership card with him/her at all times the FOBs are a convenient way to collect Bonus Bucks – simply attach to any key chain.
Remember: The membership card must be present to redeem Bonus Bucks.
Q: Does each member in a household need a different membership card?
A: No, Every customer is entitled to their own membership card/account.
They key FOBs can be used by other members in your household if you’d like to accumulate Bonus Bucks to the same account. If you would like separate accounts then each member of your household must get a different membership card
Note: You also have the option to link primary membership cards together to pool your Bonus Bucks. This can be done online at www.pioneer.ca/bonusbucks/webregistration.
Q: Do you offer a Pioneer Visa Card? Why not?
A: No. Pioneer does not have a personal credit card program in place. A personal credit card program was in place until the mid 1990’s however it is no longer cost-efficient for Pioneer to operate this program. Pioneer does offer a commercial fleet card. For details visit www.pioneer.ca.
Q: Is my Bonus Bucks membership card a credit card?
A: No. When a Bonus Bucks Membership Card is swiped the customer earns Bonus Bucks that can be redeemed toward the purchase of fuel, car washes and in-store merchandise.
Note: Certain exclusions apply to the redemption of Bonus Bucks. See Program Terms and Conditions (Collection of Bonus Bucks Section) for details.
Q: What if I haven’t used my Bonus Bucks membership card or key FOB in a couple of months?
A: Even if a customer doesn’t use their Bonus Bucks Membership Card (or key FOB) in months, any Bonus Bucks earned will remain on the account. There is no penalty for inactivity unless there is more than 12 consecutive months of inactivity.
Q: Can I redeem my Bonus Bucks online or by phone?
A: At the present time customers can only redeem Bonus Bucks at a participating Pioneer station. Pioneer is working hard to make other redemption options available.
Q: What do I do if I’ve lost or misplaced my Bonus Bucks membership card?
A: Customers can obtain a replacement card by requesting one at a participating Pioneer station. Alternatively, a customer can request a replacement card be shipped to them by calling the Pioneer Help Desk toll free at 1-800-263-3594.
Non-registered cards cannot be replaced. If a non-registered card is lost the customer should request a new card and register the card as a new card – it cannot be considered a replacement card. As long as a customer’s membership card was registered prior to it being lost it may be possible to transfer any accumulated Bonus Bucks on the old card to the new card (upon registration).
Q: When I registered my Bonus Bucks card I opted to receive promotional material and special offers by email but I am no longer interested. What do I do?
A: A customer has two options: (1) Visit us online at www.pioneer.ca. Once the customer signs in as a member (card number and password are required) select ‘Member Profile’ and click ‘No’ to receiving promotional material by email. (2) A customer can call the Pioneer Help Desk toll free at 1-800-263-3594 to change the email preference.
Q: Once I have registered my membership card can I start redeeming my Bonus Bucks immediately or do I have to wait?
A: Online registration and registration by fax or by telephone enable the customer to start redeeming any collected Bonus Bucks after just 24 hours. The register-by-mail option requires a two week waiting period due to processing.
Q: During the registration process I need to provide personal information.
What happens to this information and who is it disclosed to?
A: Access to this information is restricted to authorized personnel of Pioneer Petroleums. A customer’s personal information may be disclosed to Pioneer Petroleums’ program partners only or to third party agents responsible for administering our programs or special offers, provided that such companies use the information only for the purposes for which it was disclosed, and agree to comply with Pioneer Petroleums’ privacy policy.
Q: Why couldn’t I redeem my Bonus Bucks at the station?
A: Firstly, Bonus Bucks cannot be redeemed until a membership card has been registered with Pioneer. This is done online, via fax, phone or mail. Secondly, the membership card must be present in order to redeem. You cannot redeem with a key FOB – it is strictly for accumulating Bonus Bucks.
Q: How can I get more Key FOBs- mine have worn out?
A: We cannot issue new key FOBs for an existing membership card. The customer has two options:
(1)Request a protective FOB cover from the station attendant. This protective sleeve fits over the work key FOB and will prevent it from further damage. One sleeve issued per request.
(2)Request a replacement card from the station attendant. This replacement card will set the customer up with a new Bonus Bucks account – three new FOBs that accompany the membership card now replace the worn out FOBs.
Reminder: The key FOB must belong to a registered card in order to request a replacement card. Otherwise, the customer should request a new card and begin collecting with this card.
Q: Why did I get an “Invalid Card Type” message when the Attendant swiped my Card (or FOB)?
A: This means that the scanner at the station can no longer read the Bar code on the customer’s membership card/FOB. The customer should choose an option outlined in the previous answer.
Q: I don't pay inside the gas station – can I use the card at the pump?
A: YES. Simply insert your Bonus Bucks Card before your payment card (e.g. debit/credit card).
NOTE: The key FOB cannot be used for pay at pump transactions.
Q: I have 2 people in the household who use Pay at the Pump. Can I get a second card sent to me with the same card (account) number?
A: No. Each household member should each get their own membership card and have the cards linked. When cards are linked, the balance will be automatically transferred from one card to the other every 24 hours. If 2 cards are linked the balance will reside on one card only – this is the card that must be present when the customer elects to redeem Bonus Bucks.
Q: If I forget my card when I visit the station, can I have Bonus Bucks earned on that visit added to my account after the fact?
A: No, the membership card must be presented in order receive the Bonus Bucks eligible for any given transaction. The card must be scanned before the transaction is complete in order for Bonus Bucks to be awarded to the customer’s account.
Q: If I use the key FOBs, do I even need the membership card?
A: YES. Firstly, the membership card is required to redeem Bonus Bucks. The key FOB cannot be used to redeem – it is strictly for accumulating Bonus Bucks only.
Secondly, the membership card is required to collect Bonus Bucks during pay-at-pump transactions. The key FOB cannot be used at the pump.
Q: I’ve had my card for months and have been using it. Today the station attendant told me I wasn’t registered. How can this be?
A: The card is programmed so that the customer automatically starts accumulating Bonus Bucks (on eligible transactions) from the moment the card is first given to them. In order to Redeem Bonus Bucks, the customer must register their membership card either online or by fax, mail, or by telephone.
Q: How do I find out the Bonus Bucks balance on my card?
A: There are 3 ways for a customer to look up his/her balance:

It appears on every receipt from Pioneer.

The customer can login to the Bonus Bucks website at www.pioneer.ca anytime.

The customer can call the Pioneer Help Desk at 1-800-263-3594.
Q: Can I transfer my paper Bonus Bucks / Vouchers to my Bonus Bucks membership card?
A: Paper Bonus Bucks / Vouchers accumulated cannot be transferred to your Bonus Buck membership card. Note: paper Bonus Bucks / Vouchers have no expiry date and will always be accepted for redemption at participating Pioneer locations.
Q: What happens to my Bonus Bucks if the host system goes down?
A: If host communication is lost, the attendant is not able to complete any redemptions or check any balances. All Bonus Bucks issued while communication with the host is down will be stored locally on the Bulloch terminal and sent up later once communication has been restored. Bonus Bucks will be awarded to the customer’s account at a later date.
Q: Can commercial fleet card members participate in the new Bonus Bucks card program?
A: Yes, fleet card holders can participate in the new Bonus Bucks Membership Card Program and are eligible for the same fuel, merchandise (where applicable) and car wash (where available) rewards that are available to Bonus Bucks program members.
Fleet card account managers have a couple of options for collecting and redeeming the electronic Bonus Bucks.
At this time the system does not allow Bonus Bucks to be applied to Pioneer A/R accounts.
