Conservation Day 2012 - More than 300 Hamilton and GTA school children enjoy a field trip to Bronte Creek in Lowville Park.

The Initiative, now in its 4th year, is part of Pioneer's effort to raise conservation awareness among children and encourage them to become good environmental stewards. This event is held in partnership with Pioneer-sponsored Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH Ontario's largest non0profit fish and wildlife conservation organization.

The schoolchildren take part in the OFAH's Salmon Restoration Project, raising salmon fry in their classrooms prior to releasing them into Bronte Creek on Conservation Day. During the field trip they also enjoy some "hands-on" learning about creek restoration, build bird and duck houses and help to reconstruct their habitat.
